ドミノ - 展望台

Domino is a competition proposal for an observation tower near the historic Hermitage of São Lázaro in Portugal. The project consists of two simple Corten steel monolithic blocks positioned within the landscape, creating a dialogue between the new architecture and the existing ruin. A white pebble path leads visitors towards the intervention, while the space between the two blocks forms a protected entrance and transition between landscape and building. The ascent through the tower becomes a carefully choreographed experience of light, shadow and silence, culminating in views across Monsaraz and Lake Alqueva. Perforated metal stairs, adjustable shutters and carved viewing spaces reinforce the project’s relationship with climate and landscape. The project explores how a small architectural intervention can create a powerful experience while remaining sensitive to its historic and natural context.
